Speaking

Maud is available for travel or virtual events in three formats, of which you may choose one, two, or all three: keynote talks, workshops, and moderated breakout sessions. Her experience as a farmer, land steward, writer, researcher and educator gives Maud a unique perspective at the forefront of climate grief understanding.

Having herself experienced the uprooting, income loss, and true grief that come from the effects of climate change on one’s own home, family, and livelihood, Maud has been researching, writing about, and leading workshops and interventions on climate grief since 2021. Pulling from research and experience gathered through 30 years of farming and five years of climate grief work, Maud has designed and lead over 100 trainings, workshops, keynotes, presentations.

Farmers, foresters, fishermen, agricultural service providers, master gardeners, researchers, and other workers in environmental sectors face unique challenges due to their close connection to nature and weather patterns. Relying on healthy ecosystems for their livelihood and watching the effects of climate change on the natural world every day takes a unique toll on these communities

Conferences, staff and board retreats, annual meetings, brown bag lunches, leadership development retreats to promote professional development and foster peer support with cohort and team building and bonding exercises.

“This was the best session I attended! The lessons learned are directly applicable and I came away with tools and language to help me navigate climate grief in my everyday life and work. I was so grateful to share in the moments of group processing and grieving to tangibly see how to build climate change resilience together as a community.”

“Great, sad, important, emotional. Please continue to keep this forum open to us in the future. Much needed. Rare opportunity to share in depth held feelings.

“When I first proposed the idea of hosting a climate grief workshop, my supervisor expressed concern that it wouldn’t be relevant or well-received. He felt that few people would be interested in attending. Despite initial hesitation, he eventually gave approval for the event to move forward. The outcome far exceeded expectations: over 100 farmers and landowners attended, demonstrating a clear community need for spaces to process the emotional dimensions of climate change.

My supervisor not only attended the event himself, but also participated and shared. The experience helped shift his perspective—he came to understand just how meaningful and impactful these kinds of gatherings can be. This event showed that emotional resilience and collective reflection are essential components of climate adaptation and community engagement.”

Keynote Addresses

A plenary or keynote presentation tailored to your audience will feature reports from the field and offer inspirational storytelling about how farmers and others working in environmentally-impacted industries are addressing climate grief and anxiety.

Workshops & Interventions

If your work relates to agriculture, ecology, or the natural world, climate grief is likely already part of the conversation. Maud will provide insight, best practices and steps towards healing, inviting participation and conversation to foster peer support and validate and destigmatize mental and emotional health in the context of climate change.

Breakout Sessions

Smaller group sessions at conferences, convenings, and retreats are a great opportunity for participants to share their experiences. Maud will guide empathetic and educated conversation, provide questions and thought exercises, and hold space for sharing, processing, and brainstorming steps towards catharsis and healing.
